The Edible Gardener is a blog about growing things you can eat. It’s written by Alex Mitchell who is a gardener and gardening writer. She is obsessed with her tiny south London garden and spends many days staring at small plants, wishing they would grow more quickly. When she’s not stamping on slugs or wondering how on earth to prune a fan-trained peach tree, she writes a kitchen garden column for The Sunday Telegraph newspaper. She also once gave a talk about potatoes… only one person fell asleep. Her book The Girl’s Guide to Growing Your Own or How to Grow Fruit and Vegetables Without Getting Your Hands Too Dirty will be published by New Holland in October 2009.
Alex – I’ve just discovered your Blog – fantastic! Now I don’t have to wait till every other weekend to read you! I love it – and thanks for putting mine on your Blog roll… once I have worked out how to do it, will do likewise.
Great idea about the red wine for the slugs and snails – perhaps they make a boozy treat for the birds that way, too….

Thanks Elspeth – I rather like the idea of becoming a magnet for sozzled birds! Ax
